Choosing the Best Fire and Water Bowl

Finding your perfect fire with water feature doesn't have to be a hassle! Lux Yard and Homes makes it easy with our simple 4-step guide.

Step 1: Classic Flame or Bold Design? Choose Your Burner

Standardize your flame with the reliable Standard Burner, or go for a dramatic effect with the Torpedo Burner.

Step 2: Choose Your Ignition Method

Match Lit:
  • Simple and Affordable: This classic method uses a long match or taper to light the fire pit through a conveniently located gas valve behind an access door.
  • Safety First: Remember, a separate gas shutoff valve needs to be installed outside the fire feature for safe operation and maintenance.

Electronic Ignition On/Off (CSA-certified):
  • Convenience and Safety: This system prioritizes both with a continuously burning pilot flame ensuring a reliable main burner ignition.
  • Automatic Shut-off: If the flame extinguishes, the gas supply automatically shuts off and attempts to relight for your peace of mind.
  • Flexible Control:
    • Connect the fire pit to a nearby switch, timer, or integrate it with your smart home system for ultimate control.
    • Alternatively, use a separate hand-held remote (not included) for remote operation.

Important Notes:

  • A gas shutoff valve is still required for both ignition options, essential for emergencies and maintenance, not flame height adjustment.
  • The Electronic Ignition system comes in 12VAC or 24VAC configurations, each needing a compatible 100W power supply (HPC/SEBCO recommended).

Step 3: Setting Up Electronic Ignition (Optional)

This step only applies if you chose Electronic Ignition in Step 2.

  1. Select Your Voltage: Choose between 12VAC or 24VAC based on your electrical setup.
  2. Power Supply: The Electronic Ignition system requires a constant power source.
    • If you selected 24VAC, consider a separate transformer (recommended: HPC/SEBCO 100W Power Supply).

Step 4: Choose Your Fuel Source

Fire pits run on either natural gas or propane. Here's a breakdown to help you decide:

  • Natural Gas: Ideal for a permanent location with existing gas line for long-term savings.
  • Propane: Perfect for portability and easy setup, but be prepared for higher fuel costs.

Round Fire Pit Table FAQs Answered

Does a fire pit need to be round?

No, fir pits don't have to be round. While round fire pits are popular due to
their traditional shape and ease of creating an even heat distribution,
fire pits come in various shapes such as square, rectangular, or custom
designs. The shape you choose depends on your personal style, the
available space, and how you plan to use the fire pit.

What is the purpose of a tabletop fire pit?

A tabletop fire pit is designed to provide warmth and ambiance in a compact, convenient form. It’s ideal for small spaces like patios, balconies, or outdoor dining areas. It can also be used for decorative purposes, and certain models allow for functions like roasting marshmallows. Tabletop fire pits add an inviting atmosphere while offering a portable and low-maintenance option compared to larger fire pits.

How do you maintain a fire pit?

Maintaining a fire pit involves:

Cleaning it regularly: Remove ash and debris after each use.
Inspecting for rust or damage: For metal fire pits, clean any rust and repair damages.
Covering it: Use a cover when not in use to protect it from the elements.
Seasonal maintenance: Before winter, thoroughly clean it and apply rust-preventing solutions if necessary.

How to protect a fire pit from rain?

Use a cover: A weather-resistant cover helps keep water out and prevents rust.
Store indoors: If your fire pit is portable, move it to a dry space during rainy weather.
Drain holes: Ensure your fire pit has proper drainage to avoid water buildup.

How do I make sure my fire pit is safe?

Place it on a fire-resistant surface: Avoid placing it on grass, wooden decks, or near flammable materials.
Keep a safe distance: Position it at least 10-20 feet away from structures or overhanging trees.
Use a spark screen: This prevents embers from flying out.
Avoid flammable liquids: Don’t use gasoline or other accelerants to start the fire.
Supervise: Never leave a fire pit unattended, especially when children or pets are nearby.
